Dr Khalid is the founder of the Polymer 3D printing and Laser based Additive Manufacturing division at the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute in Egypt since 2003, which is the first academic department in Egypt and MENA countries working in these industrial technologies.
Dr Khalid was graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, got M.Sc. in Materials Engineering from the American University in Cairo and got Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Cairo University as well. As a part of Ph.D. program, he studies one year at the University of Michigan in USA.
Beside the academic career, he received industrial specialized training in USA, Japan, UK, Germany and other countries.
Dr Khalid was the pioneer in Egypt and MENA region to introduce the technology of medical additive manufacturing and supported to apply the technology to produce hundreds of bio-models, medical stents and patient specific surgical guides that helped to treat hundreds of patients. In addition, he supervised more than 42 medical theses related to computer assisted surgery from different universities and almost similar number for engineering and industrial students.
Dr Khalid was the co-author of 62 published papers and was a team member in 18 national and international projects with partners from all over the world.
